Bellydance Fundamentals: Veil Choreography
Starting with basic moves like shimmies and hip drops, we will build into combinations, plus explore how to dance with a chiffon veil. We've chosen a beautiful, well-known song that spans Arabic, Turkish and Persian cultures. There will be optional performance opportunities.
Choreography helps you understand the dance better by seeing how movements fit to various kinds of music, how they connect together into phrases, and how we can use space. It builds your memory and consolidates your skills. We might even have a performance opportunity down the track. Plus, improve your fitness, co-ordination, elegance, core strength and more, alongside other women who often become good friends by dancing together.
Catch-up options: Plan in advance for any lessons you’ll miss: this course runs on Monday and Tuesday at other studios.
LEVEL: All Welcome. For those with some bellydance experience, your teacher will challenge you to go deeper, to refine your movements and develop finer control and elegance.

Absolute beginners are welcome. Dancers with more experience will consolidate, deepen and refine your skills, plus add a new routine to your repertoire!
This course complements the Bellydance Fundamentals Technique courses running on other weeknights / locations. Do both if you want to learn faster! Bellydance is fun, but it’s not as easy as it looks: it takes some time for movements to sink into the body. We recommend sticking to Fundamentals classes for at least your first full year, as well as revisiting it periodically, especially after a long break.

A large, airy studio with sprung wooden floor and NO mirrors. Limited free parking on site, plenty in nearby Council carparks, or take an express bus from the city to Darling St.
Our students tend to come from surrounding suburbs including Balmain and Birchgrove, Glebe and Annandale, Leichhardt and Lilyfield, Drummoyne and Fivedock, Camperdown and Stanmore areas.. Our online students come from all over Sydney, NSW and even interstate / overseas.
