Terms and conditions of enrolment

Please read this document carefully. It contains important information about enrolling and participating in Bellydance and Fitness classes with Inspire Bellydance.

General Introduction

We want to give you the best possible learning experience. This is how we do it!

Classes run in structured courses, usually 10-week blocks. When you register, you’re enrolling for the full course: once a week, at the same day and time each week, for the duration of the course. That means it's not designed for one-off or casual attendance.

Why can’t I take a casual or trial class?

Let’s be honest: learning something new is challenging! It can take time to overcome the initial feeling of being outside your comfort zone. one lesson is not a good guide as to whether you'll enjoy it (or be any good at it). Committing to a course gives you the best chance to really properly learn something worth learning, and find out if you want to pursue it further.

Other benefits are:

  • accountability: we will reach out to touch base if you miss classes, and will help you catch up, so you stay accountable to your goals

  • social connection: by dancing with the same classmates each week, you’ll develop friendships and real-life social networks

  • progressive learning: instead of the piecemeal learning you’d get from drop-in classes, the structured curriculum means you build and develop your skills and knowledge every single week

  • guaranteed spot: courses can sell out, so this is the only way you can guarantee having a spot available for you

Conditions of Enrolment

Enrolment is based on a term (usually a course of 10 lessons). Exceptions can be made only in special circumstances by consultation in advance. Payment in full is required on or by the date of the first class of term; your place is not confirmed until payment is processed. Your class pass is valid for the duration of the term only. Class credits are not transferrable across terms.

You can only book for yourself. Each individual must purchase tickets and checkout individually, ensuring they agree to these T&Cs and give appropriate contact details and health info. Discounts cannot be combined across multiple students or terms.

If you are unable to attend a class for which you are enrolled, please advise us by email. You may make the class up by attending another appropriate class at a different time within the same term, or via a recording if available. Online classes may be taken to make up for studio classes, but not vice versa.

All courses and classes are subject to a minimum number of students; if a enrolments don't meet this minimum number, the course / class may be cancelled. In this instance you will be offered a full refund or the option to change to a different time or class type. Inspire! Bellydance reserves the right to change or alter classes, provide an alternative teacher if the scheduled teacher is unavailable, or switch a class to an online-only format if required by Public Health rules.

Copyright of choreography and content is held by Inspire Bellydance. No material may be shared, taught or performed without the explicit permission of Inspire Bellydance or its representatives. No unauthorised photography or video is permitted during class.

No spectators or non-participants are permitted to attend the studio. This includes children. Childcare services are not available.

Where studio classes are also live-streamed on Zoom, participants agree that there is a possibility their image will appear incidentally on screen for Zoom participants. Please advise us if this is a concern for you.

For studio classes:

In any online (live-streaming) classes, it is your responsibility to ensure that you have a suitable device, internet connection and space to participate in classes. Here’s info to help you.

Classes are live-streamed and must be attended at the appointed time. We will make every attempt to record them but cannot guarantee this, and strongly encourage attending in real time.

You agree not to share class login information, or record or distribute content to others who are not enrolled in the class.

It is your responsibility to:

  • Ensure adequate internet access and suitable devices, and install Zoom software.

  • Set up a safe dance space, with appropriate flooring and enough space to move comfortably.

  • Make sure we can see you! Set your camera up so that your whole body is visible on camera, and use suitable lighting and clothing so that your instructor can give you feedback. If you choose not to or unable to use a camera or set it up suitably, we cannot give you feedback.

For hybrid classes (that is, Zoom classes streamed from a studio with students present live as well), we cannot guarantee a high quality internet connection, audiovisual quality, or interaction and feedback opportunities. For this reason, these classes are offered at a discounted rate.

For online classes:

Fitness and Health Information

For most people, dancing is a fun and safe form of exercise. However, Inspire Bellydance cannot take any responsibility for your health and fitness. Our teachers are not medically trained or qualified to assess your physical condition. If you have any doubts, we strongly urge you to seek expert advice before enrolling.

We recommend the following precautions:

  • The ‘warm up’ at the start and the ‘cool down’ at the end of class are compulsory. These are important and are designed to prevent injury; failure to attend them is at your own risk. Make sure you come to class on time so you can participate!

  • Always bring a water bottle, and drink plenty of water during and after exercise.

  • If you have a pre-existing injury, a heart condition, or if you are or become pregnant, you should consult your doctor for professional advice before beginning or continuing classes. This does not prevent you from participating, but please inform your teacher of the condition and of your doctor’s specific advice.

  • Always move within your normal range of movement. Keep to your own pace and level, and if you are completely new to an activity, take it very carefully. The instructor will give options for any difficult movements – choose the easier when you start. Opt for smaller movements as you begin, and always keep your movements controlled and not forced.

  • Learn to feel the difference between the sensation of muscles working or stretching, and pain. STOP what you’re doing immediately if something hurts, and notify the instructor. Persistent pain should always be reported to the instructor or to your GP if necessary. Remember though, it is quite normal to experience some general aches after you embark on a new activity, or if you have had a long break.

  • Children enrolled in the class are the responsibility of their accompanying adult.

Waiver: You understand there are specific risks of physical or property damages, losses or injury that may result from your participation in Inspire Bellydance classes, and by signing up, you voluntarily assume the risks associated with such participation.

If you did not understand any of this document, please contact us so we can explain it to you. We know it's really technical and boring, but it's important.
