Bellydance Fundamentals Plus: Baladi

"Baladi” meaning ‘my country’ or ‘of the country’ is the earthy, traditional heart of the dance we’ve come to know as bellydance. Its rich, grounded movements are all about enjoying the feeling in the body. The classic ‘baladi progression’ music traverses moods from slow to fast, giving you the opportunity to play with everything from ooey-gooey pelvis-driven movements, to playful accents, and finally a fast crescendo.

This course will deepen and consolidate your technique, enhance your connection to the rhythms and moods of Egyptian music, and help you express yourself through dance.

LEVEL: Recommended for those with some bellydance experience already (at least one term), who want to progress further in their musical understanding, technique and expression. Makes a perfect pair with our 6.30pm class (and enjoy a big discount for taking both!)

Pricing: 11 classes $195 per person.

Absolute beginners are welcome. Dancers with more experience are also warmly invited to join in: you’ll consolidate, deepen and refine your skills.

Bellydance is fun, but it’s not as easy as it looks: it takes some time for movements to sink into the body. We recommend sticking to Fundamentals classes for at least your first full year - and revisiting it periodically, especially after a long break.
