Questions about the Winter Shimmy Party
Do I have to perform?
Absolutely not: performers need an audience too! We welcome any of our students to come along simply to watch, support classmates, and enjoy the afternoon. Other friends, family, potential future students, and bellydance community members are also welcome.
Is it mixed or women-only?
This is a mixed event: your male partner / dad / husband can come along if they are keen to cheer you on.
We will host a women-only party later in the year, to support our students who can only dance in a women-only environment.
Can children come?
The event isn't designed for children.
We need everyone to sit still and quiet during the performances: that could be boring and uncomfortable for kids. We've had past times when kids have run up onto or across the stage, or started making a big noise - which is really unfair to students who've put so much effort into polishing their routines! So we need to be strict.
Obviously, kids do really differ in their personalities. If your child is the quiet, well-behaved type who will happily sit and watch without disturbing the show, she's welcome to attend (under your constant supervision - so if you're a performer, this won't work unless another carer is also coming). I'll leave it to you to judge if she can do that. We reserve the right to ask you to leave if your child creates a distraction or disturbance.
Light snacks are included in your ticket price - but it’s not a meal, just a little bite to help you enjoy the afternoon. Please have lunch first!
Drinks are not provided. You should bring your own water bottle; and if you want anything else (soft drink, tea or coffee etc) you’re welcome to bring it along. Please bring your own cups / glasses, as we aren’t able to provide them; and take any rubbish away with you.
Is food provided? What about drinks?
What if I need to come late or leave early?
That’s OK, please just come / go quietly so as not to disturb the performers.
If you are meant to be performing, let us know your constraints ASAP so we can try to arrange the running order to help you.
