Beyond Beginners’ Oriental Technique in Depth
Got the basics, and ready to progress? This course is all about deepening your technique and understanding of how you move and dance.
Let’s build our movement quality and bring more nuance and control to our dancing, by delving into the details. Whether it’s making smooth moves more juicy, sharp moves crisper, or adding extras like shimmies over the top of moves you already know, this course will challenge your body awareness, co-ordination, fitness and more! Johara’s deep understanding of the anatomy and mechanics of bellydance will give you an opportunity to understand and do the moves more deeply.
Sometimes the focus is on particular moves (such as jewels or 3/4 shimmies). Other times we explore footwork, or the transitions between moves; and sometimes we bring all these skills together into short combos that help consolidate your learning. Variations are offered so you can choose the right level of challenge for your skill and experience. There’s always time for questions and personalised feedback, and even requests.
Because dancing well does require strength and fitness, this class includes an extended warm-up with conditioning drills. If that’s not right for you, talk to us about alternative options.

Online-only course to enable students to attend from anywhere. Pricing: $120 for 10 weeks (with discounts for taking multiple courses).
EXPERIENCE LEVEL: 6 months to Professional, with at least moderate physical fitness and mobility
