Beginners' and Beyond Beginners' bellydance courses in Sutherland Shire

CoVID SafeWant to learn bellydance in southern Sydney? This is our newest location, and we are so excited to be bringing our popular, tried and trusted belly dance format to "The Shire".

Belly Dancing is a gentle form of exercise that improves core strength, co-ordination, and even mood and self-image. It's enjoyed by women all over the world, regardless of age, fitness level, or cultural background.

Everyone who takes this class adores the instructor Laura! She is a warm and friendly teacher, and her classes are well structured, accessible and fun. You'll learn lots, and enjoy yourself too.

6.45pm Wednesdays: Fundamentals
This class is for absolute beginners or those with less than a year's bellydance class experience. Master all the key moves and building blocks of belly dance, such as shimmies, hip circles and more. Later in the year, we'll explore how we combine moves into short sequences, and put it all together into a routine. You'll even have the chance to perform if you wish. Develop not only your co-ordination, but also memory, spatial awareness and more. It's exactly this kind of dancing that has been proven to reduce your risk of dementia! No experience is needed to participate.

7.45pm Wednesdays: Beyond Beginners
For students with at least a couple of terms of bellydance experience, who are confident with the basics and want to challenge themselves. Each term has a different topic: ranging from more complex technique, to the use of props and various folkloric styles. In Term 4 of 2020 we will look at vintage Lebanese style, inspired by the fabulous dancer Nadia Hamdi. You'll learn a fun, upbeat routine.

Classes are held on Wednesday evenings at Genisys Gym, 545 Kingsway, Miranda. Classes are also live-streamed on Zoom so you can attend from home.

Term 2a: Monday 13 April to Saturday 23 May (6 week online-only block)

Term 2b: Monday 25 May to Saturday 4 July (6 week online-only block)

Term 3: Monday 20 July to Thursday 24 September (10 weeks, online and in studios)

Term 4: Monday 12 October to Thursday 17 December (10 weeks, online and in studios)

Dates generally follow NSW Public School terms. All terms are 10 weeks unless otherwise stated. Classes continue to run on public holidays during term dates. If you're unable to make it, come to one of the other locations another night to catch up!
