Lorna of Cairo in Sydney

Lorna of Cairo in Sydney: 25-28 October 2019

International Dancer and Master Teacher of Egyptian Style Oriental Dance, presenting

Lorna has been dancing and teaching Egyptian style Bellydance professionally since 1996. She has just returned to UK after living and performing in Cairo for 10 years!

In Egypt, Lorna starred at numerous respected venues including The Nile Maxim and Nile Pharaoh boats and the prestigious 5 star Fairmont Nile City Hotel, where she performed regularly at the oriental Bab El Nil restaurant. She also performed at many weddings and parties across the country and has appeared on Egyptian TV.

Lorna’s own dance style has developed over years of being a professional performer in Cairo and internationally; she now teaches in festivals, workshops and private classes to pass on her ‘Cairo knowledge’.

As a teacher, Lorna’s extensive experience has allowed her to develop a unique teaching style like nobody else. Her workshops usually ring with the gasps of ‘Eureka’ moments, and students typically report back that their dancing dramatically improves from the moment they leave the class with the inspiration she instills.

Lorna’s workshops are highly accessible but challenging, whether you are a recent beginner, stuck in a rut, or a professional dancer seeking a fresh perspective.

"I got so much from the workshop that she taught, last time she was here in Australia. Lorna didn’t teach a choreography, she went deep into the moves and helped us to connect with them emotionally in a way that sticks to your bones. Can’t wait to see what she brings next time! I can’t recommend Lorna of Cairo highly enough! 5 stars.”
- Caroline Smith (Melbourne)

Now for the first time ever, Lorna will be visiting Sydney as part of her "Down Under Tour". No matter your level, style or background of dance, Lorna is sure to offer an educational, inspiring and invigorating workshop to help push you to the next step of your dance journey. In this trip to Sydney, she will be performing in a show, and teaching 4 workshops, as well as offering private lessons. This is a special opportunity to spend a whole weekend with master bellydance instructor and dancer.

Juicy Baladi Cocktail - SOLD OUT, waiting list only

Baladi was the 'homestyle' dance of Egyptian people, long before professional bellydancers started putting it on stage; where it's a huge crowd-pleaser! Understand the different flavours of Egyptian baladi, and learn to make your movement more luscious. Every bellydancer needs to be familiar with this genre of music and dance. This workshop is extra value because it combines 2 of Lorna's topics, "The 3 types of Baladi" as well as "Sexy Baladi"!

She's an expert at this skilful, cheeky and energetic dance: just check out some of her videos!
